This is an MC Sailing Association (MCSA) sanctioned event. It is open to MC scow Masters skippers which is defined as 50 years of age or older on or before the first scheduled race. Each skipper must be a current member in good standing of MCSA.  Non-MCSA members will be scored DNC for all races. 

All yachts must comply with the MC class rules prior to the preparatory signal of the first scheduled race. A 
boat may sail with a different sail number from its hull number if it registers with that sail number, and must compete with that number for the entire event.


Each skipper must declare his/her age and will compete in the associated division.

 Rules
The organizing authority (OA) for this regatta is the MC Sailing Association (MCSA) in cooperation with MC Fleet #91 & Carlyle Sailing Association (CSA).
             
The races will be governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
  1. The racing area is the waters of Carlyle Lake located in Carlyle Illinois.
  2. The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be published here, and courtesy copy posted on the official notice board located at the CSA Pavilion. The official notice board will be on CSA's Clubspot website.
  3. Racing rules will be changed.  The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. 
  4. Courses to be sailed are all windward leeward courses as shown in the Sailing Instructions.
  5. VHF Radio (72) will be used by the RC to communicate with competitors on the water. Additional instructions regarding radio communication will be included in the SI’s.
  6. Electronic Equipment: Use of electronic timekeeping is permitted. Digital compasses and/or devices, which offer functions not exceeding timing, heading and directional memory, which may include a user programmed reference heading are permitted. Any electronic device shall not provide wind information, boat speed, GPS-related information or compute correlation between time and bearing (such as used to ping the starting line).
  7. Competitors give absolute right and permission for video footage or photographs of themselves or their boat generated during an MCSA event to be published in any media authorized by MCSA for press, editorial or advertising purposes.
  8. Safety Suggestion: MCSA encourages but does not require the use of masthead flotation panels when conditions warrant their use.

Awards

The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply.

When fewer than 7 races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. When 7 or more races are completed, a boat’s score will be the total of her scores excluding her worst score. This changes RRS A2.1.


Seven races are scheduled. Three completed races shall constitute a regatta for awarding Perpetual Trophies. Keeper awards will be awarded if at least one race has been completed. Awards will be based on her finishes in the overall fleet.

If three races have been completed no warning signal will be made after 1200 hours.  If three races have not been completed this time limit is extended to 1300 hours. No warning signal shall be made after 1300.

Boat Registration fee - $325 if registered after Sept 14, 2024 at 11:59 pm

Additional meal package is $120 ea; or $140 ea if ordered after Sept 14, 2024.


Skipper Registration fee entitles each registrant to:

CSA will strive to provide ample crew boats available to first to crew and then to spectators.

Boats will be dry sailed nightly. Launching is available by 3 hoists or 2 ramps at CSA.

Boats will be stored on their trailers each night on CSA’s property. Two permenant tie downs for each boat are present on every parking space. Boat owners are responsible for tie down lines.





Facilities,
Lodging
CSA is a 25 acre association located in Hazlet State Park. The property has a 2-story air conditioned club house with bathrooms and kitchen facilities. There is also a separate bathroom building on the property with 4 shower stalls per side. There’s the 3-tier pavilion with BBQ facility plus amble tent camping space. The facility owns 800 feet of dock space, 3 hoists & 2 ramps. The property is managed by Joe Jacob’s, CSA’s Harbormaster who has a permanent residence at the front gate of CSA. See csa-sailing.org for additional information.

Lodging: CSA is located in a State Park with tent, RV and cabin camping right outside our club grounds. 

Tent camping only is available on CSA’s grounds. RV parking is NOT allowed on our property as per State Park Guidelines. There are two hotels in the town of Carlyle (10 minute drive), see CSA’s website for information on lodging specifics.

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

RRS 3 states, “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.”By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. By participating in this event, each competitor, or in the case of minors, each competitor’s parent or guardian, agrees to release the Regatta Organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
