The races will be governed by the rules defined in The Racing Rules of
Sailing (RRS).
The following rules will be changed / clarified. These changes will appear in the Sailing Instructions.
- RRS A2.1 is changed to provide that when fewer than six (6) races are completed a boats score will be the total of all of her race scores.If six (6) races are completed, one score will be excluded (dropped) from her series (regatta) score.
- RRS A1 – one completed race shall constitute a series (regatta)
- RRS 44.2 is changed to a one turn penalty. All remaining rule verbiage in 44.2 remains the same as written.
Sailing Instructions – will be available online at WLYC.org (racing section / Spencer Weersing Regatta) ,at registration, and posted on the official notice board.
The official notice board will be in the front of the club (WLYC).
Venue – will be White Lake, located near the White Lake Yacht Club, Whitehall, Michigan.
Courses – will be Windward / Leeward.Courses and course diagrams will be available in the Sailing Instructions.
An offset mark may be used adjacent to the windward mark.
A leeward gate may be used at the end of a leeward leg. When used, boats shall sail between the marks and round either mark.
Scoring. The low point scoring system will be used along with NOR
Capsize. A boat that capsizes may receive outside assistance and continue racing. The boats score shall count in the race and series so long as the boat sails the full course and makes a proper finish.
Radio Communication. A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing not receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile phones. The Race Committee channel shall be channel 73.
