 June Howells will be giving a 2022 MC Midwinters Registration Fee paid for a       competitor who sailed in at least 2 of this season's Triple Crown regattas.

Eligibility This regatta is open to all sailors of MC scows. This is an MCSA sanctioned event. Each skipper must be a current member of MCSA and meet trophy age requirements before the first scheduled race. Non-MCSA members will be scored DNC for all races.  A boat may sail with a different sail number from its hull number if it registers with that sail number, and must compete with that number for the entire event.

Rules
The organizing authority (OA) for this regatta is the MC Sailing Association (MCSA) in cooperation with the Lake Eustis Sailing Club ( LESC).

The races will be governed by the rules defined in 2021-2024 The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).
  1. The racing area will be the waters of Lake Eustis.
  2. The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be published here, and be posted on the official notice board located at the club.
  3. Racing rules 30.1, 35, 41, 62.1, 62.2, A2, A4.2 and A11 will be changed.  The changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. The sailing instructions may also change other racing rules.
  4. Courses to be sailed are all windward leeward courses as shown in the Sailing Instructions.
  5. VHF Radio (72) will be used by the RC to communicate with competitors on the water. Additional instructions regarding radio communication will be included in the SI’s.
  6. Crew: the decision to use or not use crew for a race(s) must be made at the dock. Crew changes on the water are not allowed.  
  7. Competitors give absolute right and permission for video footage or photographs of themselves or their boat generated during an MCSA event to be published in any media authorized by MCSA for press, editorial or advertising purposes.
  8. Safety: Mask Use Required. Please bring your mask. MCSA encourages but does not require the use of masthead floats when conditions warrant their use.
  9. Ecology: No single use water bottles will be provided. A filtered-water fountain is available for refillable containers.

  11. SPECIAL COVID-19 RULES:

    1. Social distancing is mandatory. masks are absolutely required while on the dock, in clubhouse or other covered areas where social distancing is not possible.
    2. All participants shall have the ability to “self-shelter” (i.e., cars, rvs, etc.) on-premises in the event of inclement weatheradditional shelter will be provided but may be insufficient for conditions or social distancing.
    3. No crew /spectator boat(s) can be provided.
    4. Camping is very limited and must be authorized (see lodging -Click Here To Request .
    5. To comply with Covid-19 social distancing practices, the Competitor Briefing will be broadcast on VHF Channel 72.  Changes to SIs will be will be sent to each competitor’s registered email.

Scoring &
Trophies 

The Low Point System of RRS Appendix A will apply.

When fewer than 7 races are completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. When 7 or more races are completed, a boat’s score will be the total of her scores excluding her worst score. This changes RRS A2.1.


Three races need to be completed before a Midwinter Champion is recognized and perpetual trophies awarded.  One race constitutes a regatta for purposes of awarding keeper trophies. Awards will be based on her finishes in the overall fleet.

  • Top Ten (10) Overall - Any age, male, or female
  • Top three (3) Masters
  • Top three (3) Grand Masters
  • Top two (2) Mega Masters
  • Top Old Salt
  • Top Youth    (2+ Registrants required prior to Early Registration Deadline)
  • Top Woman (2+ Registrants required prior to Early Registration Deadline)
  • Triple Crown 1st Place - Highest points
The following Perpetual Trophies may be awarded if three or more races are completed:
  • MCSA Bill Crum Midwinter Championship Trophy - Overall winner
  • MCSA Midwinter Championship - Top Master Trophy
  • MCSA Midwinter Championship - Top Grand Master Trophy
  • MCSA Midwinter Championship - Top Mega Master Trophy
  • MCSA Midwinter Championship - Top Old Salt Trophy

Melges Performance Sailboats will be running a two-day Zenda University session prior to the 2021 MCSA Midwinters Championship. Tuesday & Wednesday March 9 and 10. The Zenda University session is limited to 20 boats. Please contact Andy Burdick for specific details.

Boat registration:
$190 if you register before March 1 ($200 after that).

$  65 Youth entry (under age 25 on March 11) Youth MCSA Membership is Free


Registration fee includes: Lunches, and Regatta T-shirt for all skippers.
Register early to ensure correct size T-shirt.

Guest & crew lunches will be provided at an additional cost.

Crew & Spectator Boats

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no crew /spectator boat(s) can be provided. Competitors may bring crew but the decision to use or not use a crew for a race(s) must be made at the dock. Crew changes on the water are not allowed.  .

Lodging

DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS AND PRACTICES, CAMPING IS RESTRICTED TO 24 PEOPLE TOTAL. PERMISSION TO CAMP (AND THE NUMBER OF CAMPERS) MUST BE REQUESTED VIA ONLINE REQUEST (Click here to request) - YOU WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED TO CAMP EXCEPT BY A CONFIRMATION RESPONSE FROM LESC.


If a Camper is authorized, camping is on the grounds of the Club to the north of clubhouse - the City of Eustis zoning regulations permit limited number of RVs up the 30 ft. in length to be on the premises only for the duration of the regatta.
