MC Madness 2001 Regatta Results
Seventeen sailors from Eagle, Indian and Diamond lakes in southwestern Michigan turned out for the MC Madness 2001 Regatta. The one day regatta participants sailed five Saturday races under clear and sunny skies. The morning provided 5 to 10 mph winds shifting out of the southwest and west. Bob Miller christened his new boat in the first race with a victory. Competition was keen as George Friend won the second race in a three boat photo finish. While Dick and Sandy Booth, the regatta chairpersons, were providing the sailors with lunch time nourishment the wind was building to 8 to 15 mph from the south. The afternoon races provided first place finishes to John Hans in race three and Bob Heathcote in race four. With consistent top finishes John Vance led the regatta after four races. But with another first place finish in the final race Bob Miller took first place overall.
