Eight Bells: David Van Cleef
With immense sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved friend and pillar of the sailing community, David Van Cleef. After a fierce battle with cancer, David passed away the afternoon of August 23, 2021. David was surrounded by his loving family and the outpouring of prayers and love from his many friends.
David lived his life with passion and purpose. Apart from his family, sailing was his second love. He inspired countless new sailors in his role as CSC Sailing Director and Coach.
"Joy has a mysterious capacity to be felt alongside sorrow and even—sometimes, most especially—in the midst of suffering." Let us celebrate and remember David's joyful life and accomplishments.
