2007 Die Hard Regatta Results
Lake Harriet YC, MN September 15 - 16, 2007
(Results submitted by Steve Loscheider on Sep 17, 2007, report forwarded by Noel Neuman on Sep 22, 2007)
Die Hard Regatta Wrap-up We were blessed with gorgeous weather, despite a chilly start on Saturday. Both days were sunny with wonderful breeze, though a bit shifty. We had 4 C scows from Lake Calhoun, 5 Ms, and 24 MCs (5 from Upper Minnetonka and 1 from Okoboji). We had lots of tight racing in all the fleets. In the C fleet, Bill Coppage, Dave Ginsberg, and Mark Prochaska each won races, and the final winner was determined by a tie-breaker. Bill Coppage was the winner. In the M fleet, Jack Zimmershied, John Barbour/Wally Daniels, and Jerry Peterson all won races, creating another tie between Jack and John/Wally. The tie-breaker went to Jack. In the MC fleet, the Upper Minnetonka boats had a very strong showing. Noel Neuman and Scott Colesworthy each won 2 races, and Dave Abramson won the other. Harriet's own Bill Colburn was a consistent contender on Saturday, and didn't race on Sunday. Overall, Bill Kirkpatrick took 4th, Joe Fricton 5th, and there was a 3-way tie for 6th that was won by John Getsinger. Other strong showings included Grant Hutchins took 2nd in the last race, and Rob Edman, Mike Sutton, Karen Hemstad, and Jayson Wold each had great sections of races along with good finishes. Thanks again to the Regatta co-chairs, Charlie Gantzer and Eric Christenson, and to Bill and Susan Kirkpatrick for hosting the party on Saturday night. I also want to thank all of you who volunteered in some other way to help make the regatta a success.
